ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael Dane was a professional investigator for over twenty-five years.

His Frank McBride stories are entirely fictional but inspired by his own experience as an officer in H.M. Customs & Excise’s National Investigation Service.

Michael re-trained as a lawyer and joined the private sector where he investigated cases of fraud, corruption, smuggling, money laundering and breaches of international sanctions on five continents.

He now writes full time and lives in England’s Vale of Belvoir.

What readers say
The Rutland Legacy is storytelling gold

Frank McBride and Bernard Taylor are back, this time pitting their Machiavellian wits against Nazi gold smugglers and the idiot son of an ex-Conservative MP turned TV celebrity chef. The writing and plot direction are as crisp as always; the humour sharper than Denis Law in the six-yard box. And a certain dog gives birth to five puppies under the supervision of a wisecracking female vicar. Add Gerry Gable, the veteran investigator into Far-Right extremism, the magnificent STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) plane of Second World War fame called the Westland Lysander, and Tottenham winning the Double in 1961 - it helps to know these things if you want to do some clandestine breaking and entering - and you have all the ingredients of another cracker from Dane. Now I just need a few pints of Everard’s Tiger to get me through to the next instalment.
